This year the BMW Club National rally was held at Coleraine in Northern Ireland, a very beautiful part of the UK, but needing a little more effort to travel overseas! A few hardy souls from the Oxford Section made the trip and Geoff Clough has written an excellent report with photographs.
The rally was a great success and the Ulster section were great hosts, it was certainly well worth the effort to see some of the wonders of the North Antrim coast such as the Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge!

Turweston Wings & Wheels event enjoyed good weather all day and allowed a superb display of aircraft including the very rare Edgley Optica and the Fiesler Storch. On the field a varied collection of vehicles lined up for inspection by a sizeable crowd of visitors. Amongst these vehicles were more "Leyland Land Crabs" (Austin, Morris, Wolseley 1800 and 2200) than I have seen in one place since I worked at the factory! The bike park had less machines than usual, probably due to the threat of thundery rain. The BMW team enjoyed the event. In the big grey hangar, a huge digital Scalextric proved a draw and a concentrated battle ensued. John Hillier was awarded the winner's medal, as you might expect from his intense concentration! I got there at 08:00 and found the site where we had been allocated at the side of the road. There was no way we could set up a stand in this position and so they agreed that we could be on the grass where we were last year. Great to have people turn up and help set things up. The Western Section set up their huge Coleman dome on the grass opposite and so BMW had the whole area covered. A good range of bikes on show and lots of interest from visitors. I believe 5 new members were signed up. The event was as packed as ever with some excellent machines on show all over the town. The Rotary Club sold some excellent bacon baps and pieces of superb home cooked cakes- yummy! By John Broad. |

Dave Smith (Oxford Section Member) and Neil Hardmann are riding two R1200Rs from Avebury Circle to the Arctic Circle, hence Circle2Circle. BMW Motorrad is sponsoring the ride, as are Wychwood Brewery, Damart and the Wellington Barn. Please see the Circle2Circle blog for more information, daily updates and the chance to sponsor Dave and Neil. Good luck for the ride! |

The BMW Club AGM was held at Durham University in the Calman Centre. The debate was good and the weather was even better! Overall the AGM was productive, see the full report on the section blog . Next year's AGM is at Gretna Green and will be hosted by the Scottish Section. |

At the recent Sunday Lunch Derek Johnson received an award from the Oxford Section to recognise his long service on the section committee. Dick Boyd, the BMW Club President also sent a very nice letter thanking Derek for his work as treasurer of the national club. |
